post for peace

"Describe the political and governmental format for Iraq that you feel gives Iraq its best chance at long-term peace.
What do you see as potential pitfalls of other systems?"

as long as islam has such deep roots in iraq and the people fight each other, there isn't much of a chance for any form of government. the current system of various tribal warlords and imams fighting for power results in chaos. saddam hussein crushed that under his brutal regime and when america 'liberated' iraq, they unleashed the old chaos. a western style democracy isn't what these folks want and i don't think that it will work in a country that is used to dictatorship. perhaps a consensus government elected by the people- where shia, sunni and secular needs to work together for a majority. a two party system in iraq is what they have now- and why they are at war with each other. an american republic is not a good fit for people who hate the west.

the iraqis need to want peace- not the rank and file but the powers that rule. the iraqis have the same type of power hungry religious zealots fighting for power as we do. the only difference is the name of the religion.
