The obvious underpinning of all the negative pontificating before she spoke was pure, adulterated hype meant to sell newspapers and get the advertisers to line up and maybe help Ann Coulter write another useless book. With the MSM going all apeshit over the Clintons, go figure, one might have thought that Bill and Hillary were actually thinking what the mainstream media and the RNC and Rove wanted us to think they were thinking. Hmmm? As it turns out, however, they weren't.

Hillary gave a very powerful speech tonight; a resounding message of we are united. A call to hold hands and sing Kumbaya…

Yes. In some way I meant that last line in a patronizing, smart-assery sort of way, but, in another part of my brain, I truly think that that is, metaphorically speaking, what took place during her speech. Not because the Democratic party and the country were fragmented, but because the American people, despite the last eight years, see through the bullshit that is tossed around and recycled into what is essentially pandering and they choose their own moments. You’d think that after all these years the powers that be would have learned this lesson? I suppose they have their noses too far up the money changer’s asses to grasp the not so subtle message.

“No Way. No How. No McCain.” It’ll fit on a t-shirt and it’s rather idiomatic, if you live in the US of A! Can’t beat that…

With that said… We urgently need to change this countries political thinking. It is not a two party system. It is a United Constitutional Democratic Republic- for the people, by the people and of the people. There are more viewpoints than conservative and liberal. Than conservative and progressive. There are more diversities. There are other parties. Other ideas and ideals. Other considerations besides Republican and Democrat.

Corporations are not a people. The Military Industrial Complex, aside from the men and women in uniform, are not a people. Big Pharma is not a people. Big Oil is not a people.

On the other hand… Teachers, Brick Layers, Fire Fighters, Engineers, Factory Workers, Nurses, Doctors, Lawyers, Coaches, Actors, Writers, Retirees, Athletes, Hair Dressers, Farmers, Dental Assistants, Restaurant Workers, Pilots, Military Enlistees, Homemakers, Clerks, Telemarketers, Artists, Singers, Dancers, Scientists, Preachers, Pianists, Violinists, Conductors, Surgeons, Bankers, Landscapers, Builders, Judges, Taxi Drivers, Disk Jockeys, Professors, Students, Architects, Street Walkers, Homeless, Jobless, Brown, White, Red, Yellow, Tan, Black, Gay, Straight, Bi, High, Low, Tall, Short, Skinny, Fat, Redheaded, Blonde, Brunette, Grey, Male, Female, Transgendered, Indian, African, Asian, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, and yes, even Politicians, are the people… These are the people(s) who, quite evidently, need to be represented by more than only two parties. Right?

Well come two thousand and nine I suggest that we begin to make that happen…for the good of our country and its peoples.

And, with that said, let me reiterate that I think Hillary gave a magnificently powerful and moving speech, and proved, yet again, that she has the skills, the intellect, and the grace to lead... I just don't want to be led...

Unprecedented Moment

How lucky am I to have the first post following such an unprecedented moment in history? A moment that will, I am quite sure, be followed by another just as unparalleled, yet even sweeter occasion.

I'd have been lucky, as well, if Hillary Clinton had won the nomination, for it too would have been an extraordinary moment in our nation’s history. It is, in a great many respects, as incredible, and due our humble respect, that a woman came so near to the historic fortune now bestowed upon Barack Obama. Yes. We are all living in a rather astonishing time. An era that, to be quite honest with you, seemed like an unreachable dream. When one of these two amazing possibilities is within our grasp... I’d say we are rather fortunate to be witness.

Now I don’t want to get ahead of myself because there are many miles to go.
Much nastiness to overcome; hordes of dirty, low down, cutthroat operatives,
Henchmen (and women) that have long been planning for such a day.

O. Make no mistake about it. There are backdoor, underground, despicable factions that have been writing the battle plans for a moment such as this for many, many years.

Some of them meet in dank boardrooms, and swill fine wines,
And many of them make more money than all of us combined.
Others meet in rundown buildings and pass out pamphlets
And make unspeakable pledges. While others congregate yet
in churches and pass the plate and make off-color remarks, literally.
Some drink mint juleps and play croquet in the backyard
Of some ungodly and unseemly rich aunt and uncle.
A few of them buy extra sheets, white sheets and sew, knit and crochet.
And secretly wish they belonged to an elite line of Aryan tutelage,
And they would, you see,
Except they must maintain appearances
because "civil society" dictates that their business
Look down upon bigotry.

Fortunately for a great number of us, these people are a shrinking minority.
Don’t get me wrong, they're a vicious minority and they do mean business,
But, if I’m reading the numbers correctly in this primary season,
They are about to meet their match in the newly found voice of the majority.

People with a conscience, on both sides of the aisle; the faithful, the fired up, the willing, the angry, the despondent, the riveted, the hopeful, the hopeless, the fed up, the soulful, the ready, the able, the educated, the uneducated, the white, the black, the red, the brown, the devout, the religious, the atheist, the agnostic, the tired, the hungry, the poor, the victims, the democrats, the republicans, the independents, the greens, the socialists, the progressives, the liberals, the conservatives, the moderates, the normal Joes, the artists, the mechanics, the laborers, the unions, the dressmakers, the hair stylists, the actors, the janitors, the non-unions, the teachers, the cooks, the chefs, the doctors, the lawyers, the police, the fire fighters, the medics, the students, the dry cleaners, the carpenters, the brick layers, the scientists, the pastors, the clergy, the Jew, the Muslim, the athletes, the shoe shiners, the bus drivers, the waiters, night watchers, the daycare workers, the mothers, the fathers, the siblings, the uncles, the aunts, the nieces, the nephews, the grand children, the great-grandchildren, the cousins, the neighbors, the troops, the contractors, the landscapers, the real-estate agents, the buyers, the sellers, the psychologists, the pilots, the ditch diggers, the care takers, the nurses, the doctors, the dentists, the hygienists, the assistants, the directors, the camera operators, the fast food employees, the delivery drivers, the jobless, the Native Americans, the hyphenated-Americans, the majority of Americans!

The factions of devoutly closed-minded, ignorant, bigoted, backward, no-good, derelicts have met their last throe.

Let's make sure that we recognize this moment for what it is... A truly historic milestone that need be followed by an even greater one. We could use the dream.
